I own a N810 and find the GPS works sufficiently well. It takes a 
while occasionally to get the first fix (up to five minutes) but 
afterwards it's stable and precise.
I suppose many people just try it in their cars where an external 
antenna would be advised; in the plane, with no obstacles around, 
it's working flawlessly.
And I can even get a fix in my flat right under the roof.

Axel, I tested your 4.5.0 libs but found the drawing times even a 
little slower; for example, zooming in from a defined stage gave an 
isoline drawing of 1501 ms with 4.4.1 and 1652 ms with 4.5.0.

Did you do some testing yourself?
